She's missing

I got Mollie when I was 14 from a family friend who found her as puppy. She's always been my dog. Big brown eyes, short dark brown hair with a dash of white on her paws and chest. She became a expert at begging, never whining or fussing, instead waiting patiently for a treat. She hates car rides, baths & cats. Mollie is the most docile dog you'll ever meet, you only need to look at her for her flop over and wait for a belly rub. I have a photo of Mollie with my youngest niece (who was just over year old at the time); you see them from behind, standing at the edge of the gravel in front of a flower bush, seeming to be planning to go off on an adventure.

When I moved to town, I left Mollie at my parents house as the place I went to didn't allow pets. They have an acreage & I didn't want to separate her from their other dog, a purebred chocolate lab named Dutch.

It's a rule at my parents' house that both dogs can't be let outside at the same time since they run off (usually returning a few hours later exhausted and smelling of whatever they rolled in on the neighbor's property) but sometimes they manage to get away. As both have gotten older, they are gone for shorter periods of time but take much longer to recover from their getaway.

Now Mollie is missing. In her old age, she has to be let outside more often to prevent having an accident in the house; around 2 am yesterday, she was let outside to do her business. Dutch also happened to be outside and wouldn't you know it they ran off. Dutch came back shortly after but Mollie is nowhere to be found. My parents went looking for her; searching their property, checking with neighbors and wading through the endless brush and trees in the area with no luck. The more time that passes, the more likely it is that Mollie won't be coming back. I'd rather she coming back just fine but in reality I'd at least like to know what happened to her even if it's bad.

In the beginning...

My first attempt at a blog. Seeing as I haven't told anyone I have this blog (other than a random offhand comment on Facebook) the 2 hits I've accumulate must have been someone stumbling on the page by accident. Hello to the people out there!

This host site requires a url address to create a blog. I entered at least a dozen different options all of which were taken. Out of frustration and curiousity I thought I'd test the water - without adding a vulgarity and my attempt to be cheeky, so was born efnrayofsunshine (pronounced f-in ray of sunshine).

I haven't decided which direction to take this blog, mostly as I have very random thoughts, so I'll be playing by ear. For anyone reading this, I hope my ramblings don't bore you too badly. If that happens to be the case, at the very least you'll have something to cure the insomnia.

P.S. Feedback is good so leave a comment if you feel so inclined.
